Corn (Zea mays) is a cereal grain which yields a tall plant with narrow, long leaves and wavy edges. It originates from America, although evidence suggests that it was first cultivated by the Maya, Inca and Aztec civilizations over 5,500 years ago. Corn first arrived in Greece from Northern Africa, and it is particularly nutritious due to its high protein content.
