BARBA STATHIS continues to invest in renewable energy sources, significantly improving its environmental footprint
Guided by the principles of sustainable development and responsible entrepreneurship, BARBA STATHIS continuously invests in “green" practices and technologies in an effort to reduce its environmental footprint. In this context, the company is investing in renewable energy sources by completing the installation of a solar power plant at its fresh salad production unit, while also expanding the respective plant at its frozen vegetable unit in the Industrial Area of Thessaloniki, in Sindos. With the completion of this significant environmental project, the total power of both plants is estimated at 2.926 kW, with the electricity produced amounting to 3.800 MWh per year and achieving a reduction in CO2 emissions equivalent to 2.693 per year.
With unwavering commitment and vigor, BARBA STATHIS continues to lead the effort to protect the planet from the impact of climate change through a multitude of actions. The development of the solar power plant further strengthens the company's efforts for continuous modernization in the context of sustainable development. Lastly, it is important to note that in the last three years (2019-2022), the company has achieved an equivalent reduction of 32% in total electricity consumption, 37% in thermal energy, and a substantial reduction of 42% in water consumption, contributing to the mitigation of the effects of climate change.
